Nick A Demos began painting the word images on canvas starting in 1998 from the book and the word Neosymbolism was created at that time as a description of this word painting that had emerged. Although the practice of presenting the word painting was accomplished, and monthly since 2002 several works and the word neosymbolism.com had already been published in Gallery Guide, New York and West Coast. The definition of neosymbolism was finally presented in an half page ad in the New York Gallery Guide September 2004, with the painting "The Artist's Quilt" with the definition and declaration "Neosymbolism Created by the Artist Nick A Demos is the Juxtaposition of Words and letters within Words"
